Facebook Releases New Tool That Converts Personal Profiles to Facebook Pages

 Facebook is offering the same tool to users that it offers to businesses and brands.

 Since Facebook profiles have a 5,000 friend limit it has become a limitation for some

popular entities.

 Migrating to a FB page is irreversible right now, so if you move your profile you will

need to download your profile information (photos, wall posts, messsages and friend

list) before you make the switch.

 “Be aware that when you convert your profile to a Page, your profile pictures will be

transferred, and all of your friends will be automatically added as people who like your

Page. No other ocntent will be carried over to your new Page, so be sure to save any

Volvo Unlocks MLB Paywall for April 1, 2011

 Volvo is unlocking a paywall for rabid baseball fans: Volvo is presenting free

streaming games on Apple devices for the month of April.

 MLB Advanced Media has announced that access to MLB.TV in its iPhone, iPod

Touch and iPad apps is free for all of April. (Android users will only get one free game

per day)

 Users will still have to pay $14.99 for MLB At Bat, which is Apple’s #1 selling App

from the App Store a leader in streaming mobile video.

 If you like baseball I would recommend getting the app, it’s worth the price, especially

since you can watch live baseball games on it this month thanks to Volvo.

 The app gives viewers access to pitch-tracking functionality that tracks location,

speed and type of pitch thrown.

American Express Introduces new Platform Called “Serve”

 On Monday AMEX introduced its new platform that can be used if you need to make

acquisitions.

 Serve will help users make person-to-person transactions online.

 Adding funds can be done from credit cards, debit cards, bank account, charge card or

transfers from other members of Serve.

 AMEX has developed apps for Android and iOS, and the service can be accessed via

Facebook as well.

 Consumers will have to set up an online account which can be done at Serve.com, or they can

use the smartphone app.

 Serve can be used to receive or send money to friends, make purchases online as well as pay

bills.

 Serve is available to anyone who lives in the U.S., but AMEX will launch Serve in some

international markets in the future.

Microsoft: Let Windows Phone Pay for That

 Microsoft is said to be working on technology to allow shoppers to pay for groceries and other

purchases by waving their Windows Phone device at the checkout counter.

 Microsoft plans to add the feature in new versions of its Windows Phone smartphone operating

systems, according to Bloomberg.

 The new software will be based on Near Field Communication, which allows phones to

communicate wirelessly with other nearby devices.

 The mobile payment software would allow Microsoft to compete with Google, which in Dec.

made mobile purchases possible with Android for mobile devices.
