The procedure involved obtaining safety equipment and materials like a lab apron, goggles, balance, distilled water, thermometer, and an unknown salt. A calorimeter apparatus was then set up using Styrofoam cups for insulation. 100g of water was measured and 5g of the unknown salt was added to the water in the calorimeter. Observations of the mass used, color intensity, and temperature were recorded during the experiment.

2. All Materials such as a Lab Apron, goggles, balance, distilled water jar, thermometer, 4 Styrofoam cups, and 8-10g of an unknown salt. 3. 100.0g of water were then measured in a Styrofoam cup using the scale. 4. Approximately 5.00g of Unknown Salt were measured using the scale. 5. A calorimeter apparatus was setup using three Styrofoam cups for better insulation. 6. Three Styrofoam cups were then placed in one another. This was then repeated for the top of the calorimeter. 7. A piece of tape to fit the radius of the cup was then cut. 8. A hole the thickness of the thermometer was then made through the Styrofoam cups. 9. The initial temperature of the water was then recorded. 10. 5.00g of the unknown salt were then poured into the water. 11. The solution was then stirred. 12. The lid was placed and the sides were taped to minimize the escape of heat. 13. Observations such as mass used, color intensity and temperature were taken and recorded. 14. All Materials were then put away and cleaned the unknown solutions were then poured back into the teachers sink.
