The document describes motion graphs and how to interpret displacement-time and velocity-time graphs. A displacement-time graph shows velocity as the gradient, with a constant positive gradient indicating constant velocity, a zero gradient meaning the object is at rest, and a constant negative gradient corresponding to motion in the opposite direction. A velocity-time graph relates its area under the curve to displacement, with a positive constant gradient representing constant acceleration, a negative constant gradient as constant deceleration, and a zero gradient indicating constant velocity with no acceleration.

Velocity is obtained from the gradient of the graph. A – B : gradient of the graph is +ve and constant ∴ velocity is constant. B – C : gradient of the graph = 0 ∴ the velocity = 0, object at rest. C – D : gradient of the graph – ve and constant. The velocity is negative and object moves in the opposite direction. VELOCITY-TIME GRAPH Area below graph =Distance / displacement Positive = Constant gradient Acceleration(A – B)
