CASE STUDY

 YOU are assigned as a day shift Charge Nurse in a 30 BED UNIT CURRENTLY WITH 23 PATIENTS. Organize an
optimum staffing assignment for the shift with the following conditions:
 5RNs, 3LPNs, 2 UAPs, 1 clerk
 5 high acuity patients
 10 medium acuity patients
 8 low acuity patients
 Member Roles
 RN: Includes, but is not limited to administering medications
 monitoring I/O, assessments, plan for care of patient
 LPN : Bathing, feeding, changing dressings, vital signs
 UAPs: Make beds, assist ambulatory patients in bathing and grooming, and perform simple nursing care
procedures.
 Clerk: Non nursing functions for administrative duties
