REFLECTION 5 – ANCHORS

We talked about anchors and anchoring this week. We learned types of

anchors, they are visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. When we feel nervous,
excited or angry, we can use anchors to relax by remembering good things from
our background. Maybe it’s a touch, a tune, a flower or someone from our family.
We usually use anchors to feel relaxed, but sometimes these anchors can remind
us bad memoirs, for example, when we see a dog, this dog can remind us the dog
that chased us when we were children.

As I didn’t try it before, I don’t know how to use it to relax. But I think I can
use visual anchors, maybe by remembering my mother’s face, my niece and
nephews or a flower or I can use auditory anchors by saying myself “Calm and
Relaxed” or “You can do this”. We should control whether anchors work or not.
When we use an anchor for several days, it still works, then we can use it from
now on.

Also, we talked about classroom anchors. They will be really useful and
helpful us to control the class. I like “story time” among the classroom anchors
most. I can use it to get attention when my students don’t listen to me or they
are naughty. In addition to this, I can use it to encourage my students to do
something. Moreover, I should take care of my students’ levels and ages while
using anchors.
