American Literary Time Periods

Lesson Objectives:
1. Learn how to get information from sources.
2. Learn the characteristics of the American literary movements.
3. Create a product to demonstrate an understanding of how to use research information and
time period characteristics
4. Produce a quick tips sheet for peers

Assignment steps:

1. Listen to “Using information” presentation.


2. Create a livebinder account. Livebinder.com
3. In groups, use the American literary time periods pathfinder to research your assigned
literary time period. (https://sites.google.com/site/amlitperiodspathfinder/)
4. Create a livebinder for the sites you actually use from the pathfinder. You must use a
minimum of 3 sites.
5. Use your research and prior knowledge to build a Tagul to represent your literary time
period. Be sure that your Tagul clearly mentions the time period dates, writing styles and
techniques, authors, works, and historical events of your literary time period.
6. Submit a word document that contains a link to your live binder, a link to your tagul, an
explanation of the terms selected for your Tagul, and MLA citation of sources used.
