Types of network

 LINEAR AND NON LINEAR

 UNILATERAL AND BILATERAL

 ACTIVE AND PASSIVE

● These theorems provide shortcut methods to
solve complex networks.

•NORTON’S THEOREM
•MAXIMUM PIWER TRANSFER

•SUPERPOSITION THEOREM
SUPERPOSITION
THEOREM
 Applicable to linear system
 Should have more than one independent
power source
 the total response is the sum of the
individual responses.
Thevenin’s theorem
 Thévenin’s Theorem: A resistive circuit
can be represented by one voltage
source and one resistor in series
NORTON’S THEOREM
Norton theorem: A resistive circuit can be
represented by one current source and one
resistor in parallel

MAXIMUM POWER TRANSFER
THEOREM
The maximum power transfer
theorem states the following:
A load will receive maximum power
from a linear bilateral dc network
when its total resistive value is exactly
equal to the Thévenin resistance of
the network as “seen” by the load
RL = RTh
• To find the maximum power delivered to RL,
