150 Reasons

There are over 150 Million Reasons to Relegalize Cannabis. Those reasons are dollars.
According to the 2007 FBI Uniform Crime Report, Indiana spent nearly 150 Million dollars to lock up
otherwise law abiding pot smokers. I’m pretty sure that number is higher now.
I’m attaching a couple of articles relevant to our discussion, and a link to more information. There are
reams of evidence showing that Marijuana is, as former DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis Young
said, after exhaustive study in 1988, “…safer than many of the foods we commonly consume.”
As a medicine, Marijuana has been shown to treat illnesses ranging from treatment of headaches
through fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, chronic pain and is being examined as a possible cure
for several forms of cancer.
Industrial Hemp would go a long way to solving our energy crisis, providing a clean, renewable and
entirely sustainable source for bio diesel and ethanol. Four product groups can be obtained from each
plant.
I am asking for you support for Senate Resolution 70. This would direct the General Assembly
Sentencing Policy Study Commission to investigate the appropriateness of our laws governing
Cannabis/Hemp/Marijuana in Indiana. We’re asking for an official conversation to show how Cannabis
would improve life for everyone in Indiana and beyond.
Yours,
