A review of the film “The Pianist”

The Pianist is an epic film of the director Roman Polanski, based on historical
facts. It won 3 Academy Oscar´s award for better director, better actor and
better adapted script. It is set in Warsaw during the Second World War, and it is
about the life of a Jewish pianist.

This film was first performed in 2006. Based on historical facts, The Pianist
shows the life of the Jewish polish musician, Wladislaw Szpilman, who survived
the Holocaust in Varsovie. It is written by the pianist´s memories, written after
the Second World War. He had been a very famous pianist when the war
started. During the war, he and his family are deported to a ghetto in Warsaw
and he managed to escape to different places, but his family died. It is very
hard for him losing everything and living hidden because if anyone saw him he
could be killed. Finally he met a German general who helped him because he
was a pianist too and when the war finished he became a very well-known
pianist again and gave concerts all over Europe.

Adrien Brody (Wladislaw) is an excellent actor who plays his part wonderfully.
Thomas Kretchmann (the German general) is an absolutely convincing actor;
and the direction of Roman Polanski gives the film a strong and realistic
performance.

The setting is very realistic and the costumes are excellent. The buildings
burning and falling are a very important part of this film because gives her a
convincing surrounding.

To sum up, this film is absolutely recommendable, if you like dramas. However
some of the scenes are very sad but outstanding. You can’t miss it.
