Certain institutions conducting PGDM, PGDM (Executive), and PGCM programs must give preferences to the competent admission authority of the respective state governments regarding admitting students who have taken the CAT, MAT, or state-level entrance exams. The competent authority will then allocate students to the institutions based on the preferences and students' relative merit on the exams, except for institutions in Maharashtra for the 2011-12 academic year due to an interim court order. Minority institutions must still admit students through their applicable common entrance exams.
