Two Humbuckers with 3-way Center Coil-split Selector Switch

Introduction:
On most 2-humbucker guitars, the center position of the standard 3-way pickup selector switch
offers both pickups. By using a 4-pole 3-way switch (EP1111), the center position can offer one
coil from each humbucker in parallel instead. The diagram shows this setup with the inside coil
from each pickup remaining on in the center position. This position is also humcancelling. The
result is very 'Strat-like', similar to the classic middle + bridge single-coil sound. Because the two
coils are in parallel, there will be less volume than either of the humbuckers alone produces. The
actual difference in volume will vary depending on the choice of pickup models.

Notes:
Volume and tone controls can both be 500K (EP1201). If the guitar is a little too bright-sounding,
treble response can be reduced by using 250K controls (EP1200) for either or both controls. A
.022mfd capacitor is the basic recommended value for the tone control.
