HUMAN VALUES IN MANAGEMENT

Introduction
Among all living beings only human beings are endowed with the faculty of choice and free will.
Only a human being can consciously choose the ends he/she wants to pursue and the ways of
achieving them. Values are the guiding principles that help the individual in making a choice. It
indicates the regard for a thing, situation or attitude which for some reason is esteemed or prized
for the value holder and individual is the source of all value application. Current incidents of
various scams and other unethical issues are forcing the organizations to realign their value
systems. This course focuses on sensitizing the students to some of the values and their relevance
to organizational life and practice.
Methodology
The course is predominantly readings and case based. The text is Reclaiming Higher Ground
however other inputs will also be included. Classes will be held for two hours every alternate
week. The dates for the classes are given, please follow them strictly unless otherwise announced.
Schedule
There will be 2 hour sessions (from 6.15 pm to 8:15 pm) every alternate week. Specific dates for
the classes are given in the schedule. Students are required to follow the given schedule unless
advised otherwise.
