Install Windows Home Server
Next, we will install Windows Home Server and configure it. This process takes a rather
daunting two hours or so, but most of the installation is unattended as you wait for the server
files to copy to the disk. There are a few things you can do while you are waiting for the install to
complete. For example, you can use the second DVD installer—the one labeled Windows Home
Server Connector—and run that install on any PC in your home that will connect to the server.
You can also search for and download WHS add-ons.
For example, check out the UK site We Got Served, Microsoft's own site and the Windows
Home Server forums for more add-ons.
Important: Before installing Windows Home Server, you will need to use your main PC to copy
the Gigabyte DVD (the one included with the motherboard) to a USB keydrive. Just copy the
entire contents of the DVD to the drive. Then, insert this keydrive into a free USB port on the
home server PC. Windows Home Server will automatically find the SATA controller drivers it
needs.
