Hoddeuk Recipe
Hoddeuk Recipe
Hoddeuk, often sold by street vendors, are Korean pancakes stuffed with brown sugar
and cinnamon, and sometimes nuts (Which will not be put in, in the ways I’ll be making).
They are a very tasty treat or dessert, and easy to make.
Ingredients:
-1 ¼ granulated sugar
-1 tbsp salt
Directions:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast, than mix it together with warm
water and melted butter or olive oil. Once the dough is mixed, knead it for about 10
minutes. Mix well, than cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let the dough sit for until
double in size (About 2 hours). Then mix brown sugar and cinnamon powder together.
Grease a frying pan with vegetable oil and set it on the burner, medium heat, to warm it
up. Than grease your hands (So the dough doesn’t stick to them). Than pull out 1/16
of the dough, flatten it with your hands, put a spoonful of the sugar filling in the middle,
then pull the dough together to seal it and make a ball. Put it into a hot frying pan and
then flatten it with a spatula. Let it cook until it looks golden brown, flip it, and flatten
some more. Then remove it from frying pan, and that’s it!
Apparatus:
-A big bowl
-A burner
-A spatula
-A lid
-A frying pan
Serving Size:
Approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes (Includes time to wait for dough to rise).
Approximately 20 minutes (Doesn’t include time to wait for dough to rise, just getting
ingredients and getting ready to make it).
I don’t need to bake Hoddeuk, I just need a burner to make it. It takes approximately 3
hours to make it from start to finish (Including time to wait for the dough to rise).
