Teacher Certification in Middle Grades Education (5-9)

Unit: College of Education and Human Development

Teacher certification in Middle Grades Education (grades 5-9) is available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Students interested in teacher certification at the graduate level through the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree must
first complete a baccalaureate degree in an appropriate academic field before entering the teacher certification program at the
graduate level. Students must apply and be accepted into the MAT program in order to complete teacher certification.

The following courses are pre-requisites for application to the Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Middle Grades
Education. They may be taken as part of the baccalaureate degree program. In addition to these courses, other application
