Sound Fundamentals
Sound in air is produced by the
vibration of a surface, such as a
loudspeaker diaphragm, moving the air
molecules back and forth. This causes
an alternating condensing and
rarefaction of the air molecules,
creating pressures slightly above and
below atmospheric pressure.
Duyulanma aralığı:
If the sound levels from two or more sound sources have been measured
separately, and you want to know the combined sound pressure level of the
sound sources, the sound levels must be added together.
However, due to the fact that dBs are logarithmic values they cannot just be
simply added together.
For example, the background noise level is 40 dB and the total level with the
compressor operating is 45 dB. The level of the compressor alone is
determined by;
Örneğin fon gürültüsü 40 dB olan bir hacimde bulunan bir kompresörün
toplam oluşturduğu düzey 45 dB ise, kompresörün tek başına gürültüsü kaç
dB’dir.
Most people will find that their hearing is most sensitive around 1-4
kHz and that it is less sensitive at high and low frequencies.
