NATASCHA KAMPUSCH
‘I now feel strong enough to tell
the full story of my abduction’
Four years on from this escape, Natascha Kampusch finally feels ready to tell her story in
detail for the first time. Her sensitive and articulate account begins with the story of her own
difficult childhood. She goes on to describe the day of the kidnap, her many days spent in
captivity, and the physical and psychological abuse she underwent at the hands of her captor.
3,096 DAYS is the story of a fighting spirit who held on to her sanity
against inconceivable odds and managed to escape unbroken.
Natascha Kampusch was born on 17 February 1988 in Vienna and became victim, at the age
of ten, to what proved to be one of the longest abductions in recent history. In 2006 she gained
her freedom. On the day she escaped, her abductor Wolfgang Priklopil committed suicide by
throwing himself under a train. Since then Natascha has been trying to live a normal life. In
spring 2010, aged 22, she graduated from university.
