The OLOA Project: On Line and On Air

Objectives

The learning objectives of The OLOA Project derive from the general language objectives
established in the language curriculum. The following chart describes our 8 learning objectives,
their general language-based objective counterpart (in brackets) and their specific contribution
to competence development.

By the end of the learning sequence learners will be able to:

1. Communicate and interact in English with reasonable ease in structured situations 1


showing a receptive attitude and trying to use an adequate pronunciation, stress and

2. Create a short news radio report or a short interview following the model given and 1
reflecting on how English works by taking the language as object of observation and
analysis in order to elaborate the final radio bulletin. (5) (6) (11)
3. Listen, read and understand general and specific information from oral and written 1, 6
texts about the process of news creation showing a cooperative, responsible and
critical attitude with a certain level of autonomy. (5) (6) (7) (8)
4. Integrate and use the radio format as learning and communication tool by using 1, 6
new technologies with creativity, confidence, responsibility and critical thinking. (6) (7)
5. Search, select and transform the information from the sources on the web into 3
knowledge by activating thinking skills to analyse, synthesise and transform it in order
to create a report to be read aloud and be part of the final cooperative bulletin. (5) (6)
6. Develop the final task with creativity, confidence, responsibility and critical thinking 4, 5
by organizing individual work together with the editorial team. (6) (7) (13)
7. Gain, process and assimilate new knowledge and abilities accepting reflection and 4, 5
self-evaluation as part of the learning process showing a receptive, responsible and

8. Interpret news in sources by choosing relevant stories that help understand the 8
social context where the learner lives in order to share democratic values and engage
