Objective: Use ‘tar’ to create multi-file non zipped and zipped archives.

Theory: In UNIX. tar command is shoot for tape archiving the storing of entire fill
systems into magnetic tape. To combine multiple files into a single file, use
command tar – cut file.tar input file 1 input file 2

Replace input file 1 & input file 2 with the files or directories you want to combine.
You can use any name in place of file.tar. If you don’t use the file option.tar assume
you really do want to create a type achieves instead of joining of a no. of files.

To separate an achieves created by tar into separate files at the shell prompt,
enter: tar-xvt fill.tar.

Syntax:

If your system uses Unix tar. You can easily use a zip in conjugation with tar
to create compressed achieves.

To do this enter the following: tar-cvzf.file.tar of input file 1 and input file2

If your system does not use GNO tar. But none the less does name gzip. You
can file create-

In the form 3/31/92 are always in month/day/year format.
