Prelude:
The “5S Award” was introduced in the year 2001 by ABK-AOTS
DOSOKAI, Tamilnadu Centre, a registered society of Indian
professionals trained on Japanese Management Techniques. This
award is intended to promote the use of 5S Techniques among small
and medium sized industries in Tamilnadu.

From its inception, several industries across Tamilnadu have benefitted

from implementing 5S techniques and have participated in the 5S
Award competition. On experiencing and recognizing the importance
of these unique techniques, Precot decided to spread the
benefits of 5S techniques to textile industries. Precot has come
forward to jointly co-sponsor the “5S Award” with ABK-AOTS
DOSOKAI, Tamilnadu Centre. The joint annual trophy is called
“AOTS – N. DAMOTHARAN 5S TROPHY” in remembrance of late
Shri. N. Damotharan, the founder director of Precot.

Late Shri. N. Damotharan was the main architect who shaped the
growth and development of Precot. Under his dynamic leadership and
able guidance, the organization made rapid strides and established
itself as a market leader in its segment. He was a long-standing member
of the Council of Administration of South India
Textiles Research Association (SITRA), and his pioneering ideas have
served as a catalyst for the growth of the spinning industry in South
India.

We have instituted “AOTS – N. DAMOTHARAN 5S TROPHY”

exclusively for all textile related industries in South India in the year
2005. Many Textile industries from Spinning, Knitting, Weaving and
Garment units participated in the above competition.
