My Freshmen Reflection

By Oneyda Amaya

Before high school I spent 3 years at the school down stairs which is Sharpstown Middle

School. I decided to come to International because there was no way I was going to go to

Sharpstown High School because I never wanted to go there in the first place. So when I was in

middle school Mr. Yu came to the school and gave us a long speech about International High

School and how it is a great school and we were going to love it. So I decided to apply to the

International High School and they accepted me. I was so relieved that I was going to get the

opportunity to go to International instead of Sharpstown High.

So my journey in high school began, I was a freshmen. I was terrified even though I

wasn’t enrolled at Sharpstown High I still had to take my electives classes inside the building

since International didn’t offer electives, so yes I had to face my fears of Sharpstown High. So I

had to take English 1, ipc, world geography, Chinese 1, computer applications, theatre arts,

algebra, band and art. I was most successful in art, theatre arts and computer applications

because they were kind of easy and I liked taking those classes because all my older friends

where there, I am not trying to say that I didn’t succeed in my other classes but I succeeded most

in these classes. I was least successful in Chinese and IPC because they were extremely hard

classes and well there is a very low chance that you get at least an 80 but most of the time I

made 70 and above.

My most memorable moment from 9th grade was when I used to ride the bus from school

and to school and it was so fun. We sang, we played in the bus and I had so many amazing things

happen that I will never forget. It is memorable because I use to ride with all my friends and have
a great time. Yes I took fieldtrips but they were mostly college ones and I remember this one that

I went to The University of St.Thomas and it was a great experience. My friends were mostly

new friends that I met last year and they turned out to be great friends that I will always

remember. We used to hang out by the office since that was pretty much the space we had since

it was so small where we were at. All I have to say is that last year was a blast.
