Opening
1. Give Madison letter from my publishing companying asking her to write the words to Jerry
Pinkney’s picture book, The Lion and The Mouse
a. She reads white paper letter
b. I read letter from Jerry Pinkney
2. Now it’s your turn to be an author!

Presentation – I Do
3. Here’s the book they were refereeing to The Lion and The Mouse
a. This book does not have any words. Why do you think the author chose to tell the
story only through pictures?
b. Frequently, two people work together to create a book. Who do you think these
people are?
4. You are going to be the writer for The Lion and The Mouse
5. What do you think we should do first?
a. Picture walk
