    Conducting Annual Fire and Safety
    Inspections Throughout the City

    The City of Watertown Fire Department will be conducting the Annual Fire and Safety
    Inspection of buildings within the City of Watertown.

    Crews will be looking at the exterior of residential homes for unsafe structural
    components, ie stairs and chimneys, as well as the storage of trash and debris. Business
    building inspections consist of not only the items listed for residential occupancies, but an
    interior inspection of fire safety equipment (fire extinguishers, alarm systems), electrical and
    heating equipment, as well as safe egress from the structure.

    This practice of conducting inspections, utilizing the New York State Fire Code as a
    guide, assists the owner or operator of buildings in keeping their facilities safe and promotes
    the prevention of fires.
