• A law is needed to set the frame and the
targets.
• The consumer shall pay for the recycling of
batteries.
• All producers and importers have to join the
system.
• A private company shall be responsible for
the battery fund.
Why shall we collect used batteries?
• Batteries are a high concentrated source of
Hazardous.
• Hazardous from Batteries contaminates
ground water and air.
• Heavy metals can‘t be burned or
composted.
• Valuable metals can be recovered from
batteries.
 What are the costs?
• The collection and recycling has to be paid
by the consumer.
• 0.5US$/kg of batteries should be enough to
start up an efficient collecting and recycling
system
• 0.5 US$/kg of batteries is 0.25US$ per
capita and year.
