Name of the Game: Early Stage Duration: 10-15 minutes

Left, Right, Left, Right, Left.


Explanation

A circle is made with markers - one for each player. The class can be divided into two groups. The teacher shouts out instructions for example 2 left, 1 right, 3
rights, 1 left and when the teacher says to the middle the students have to run to the centre of the circle and back.

Why is this game important for this stage?

• This is a good warm-up exercise that warms up the brain as well as the feet.
• The students are able to practice body movement and control, demonstrating different ways the body can move by composing and sequencing simple
movement patterns (e.g. moving left, right and centre).
• The students’ awareness and consideration of others during play situations and practise the fundamental movement skills of balance while they are
moving left and right.

• COES1.1 Expresses feelings, needs and wants in appropriate ways.


-responds to simple instructions and rules

-plays simple response games

-makes simple requests and uses correct vocabulary for body movements, e.g. move left, move right

-Shows understanding of the language used in games by responding to verbal and nonverbal directions, e.g. run, move left, move right, etc.

Equipment and Teaching cues

• The drill can be done with or without a ball.

• Make one big circle with the whole class, this will be more challenging.
