Developing a question
How can we keep the egg safe while we drop it from the 4th floor balcony?
2. Making a hypothesis
The soft covering- which is surrounding the egg will keep it safe.
3. Creating a method
1st we collected all the items- sponge, bubble wrap, cotton, plastic bag and the egg.
Then we cut the sponge into half, and then we cut out part of both the sponges so it is
an egg shape. In 1 sponge it’s like a dent- the top is open the bottom is closed. In the
2nd sponge the top and bottom was cut out. So what we did was we placed the egg in
the dent one and then covered it with the other one. Then we tied it together with
rubber bands. After that we filled half of the plastic bag with cotton and bubble wrap
and then placed the egg on top. We also placed tissue on top of the egg. We stapled
the plastic bag and then on top of that plastic bag we stapled another plastic bag. Now
we were all set.
First we dropped it from 2 meters high. It survived. Then after that we dropped it from
the 4th floor balcony. In this flight the egg survived again!!!
4. Analysis our data
The data says that the egg survived both the rounds- both the heights we dropped it
from. We proved the hypothesis right. All the soft covering did saved the egg.
5. Draw conclusions
I think this happened because of the soft covering which surrounded the egg. The soft
materials saved the egg.
6. Create Theories
If you cover it properly with soft materials then it will not break.
