The Albanian republic is a parliamentary democracy . Albania remains poor when compared to
western european standards. The country has some deposits of petroleum and natural gas, but
produced only 5,400 barrels of oil per day as of 2009. Natural gas production, estimated at about 30
million cubic meters, is sufficient to meet consumer demands. Other natural resources include coal,
bauxite, copper and iron ore. Agriculture remains it’s main source of employment nearly 58% of the
workforce in Albania. It’s neighboring countries are Greece, Montenegro, Kosovo and the Adriatic Sea.
Some main exprots include textiles and footwear; asphalt, metals and metallic ores, crude
oil; vegetables, fruits, and tobacco.
