Configure GPRS and WAP Settings for an i-mate / O2 XDA II / MDA II

(Updated)
In this tutorial we will be using the i-Mate or ALL O2 Xda with an MTNL SIM installed.

Configure Device for WAP Access

1 Tap Start
2 Tap Settings
3 Tap Connections tab
4.Tap connections icon

Now

1 Under My ISP, select Add a new modem connection

2 Enter a name for your connection: MTNL_GPRS

3 From the Select a modem drop down choose Cellular Line (GPRS)
4 Tap Next
5 In the text box labelled (Access point name) type in

for post-paid : gprsmtnlmum

for pre-paid : gprsppsmum

6 Tap Next
7 Enter User name mtnl , Password mtnl123, Domain leave it as blank

8 Tap Finish
9 Do not change any thing else in the setting

10 Tap OK twice.

Now you Tap to manage existing connexions under MY ISP ( that you have
created above)i.e. MTNL_GPRS.

Tap & hold the stylus so that you ‘ll be seeing a pop-up like below

Delete
Connect

Now click on connect and wait for some time. Once you See the G symbol (or two
arrows) on the top most bar ,you are connected to MTNL GPRS network.

Now go to internet explorer from Start and enter http://wap.mumbai.mtnl.net.in


to visit MTNL Mumbai’s wap site.
MMS settings for Pocket PCs
(Note: the notations used here may be slightly different from your phone but this is applicable for
most of the Pocket PCs)

1.
Tap "Start > Programs > “ MMS Composer" / Messaging

2. Tap "Tools > MMS configuration"

3. Select “Server” tab, Tap and hold on any empty space, a popup menu will appear,
select "New"

4. Enter the Server Name : MTNL_MMS


Gateway: 172.16.39.10
Port No : 9201
and Server Address : http://172.16.39.140/mms/

Tap "OK" to save.


And select set as default

5. A new Server setting is added, make default.

6. Go to the "Preferences" Tab. Select the "Connect Via:" : MTNL_GPRS and


"Connect to Server:" : MTNL_ MMS

Tap "OK" to save and exit.
