1. 10kg of water substance liquid-vapour mixture at a pressure of 5 bar occupies

1m3, determine :

i. Quality of the mixture

ii. Volume of liquid.

2. A tank of volume 2m3 contains 0.5m3 of liquid water at 5 bar pressure. The
remaining volume is occupied by vapour phase. Determine:
i. Quality of mixture in tank
ii. Total mass of water substance present
iii.
3. A tire with an inside volume of 0.05m3 contains air at 25C with a pressure of 2
bar. Air is an ideal gas under this condition. Determine the mass of the air in tire.

4. Calculate the specific volume of air at a pressure of 1 bar and a temperature 300K.
Compare your value with real air from the table.

5. A cylindrical aluminum bottle contains air at 10.33 bar and 300K.when placed on
a scale it weighted 18kg. Some air was let out and at later date, content were at 5.165
bar and 250K and weighted 12kg. determine:
i. Mass of the cylinder
ii. Internal volume of cylinder
iii. How much air was released.

6. A room volume of 1000m3 contains air at 1 bar and 300K. In the room, there is a
balloon, which contains air at 300K. Suddenly, the balloon burst ,before any air could
escape from the room, the pressure in the room becomes 1.3 bar but maintaining the
same temperature. If the volume if the balloon is 50m3 , determine:
i. The mass of the air originally in the room (excluding balloon)
ii. The final mass of air in room
iii. The initial pressure of the air in the balloon.
