FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION

FINDINGS

 From the survey conducted by us in order to know the impact of multiplex

on the single screen theatres we have come out with a various results. We
found that majority feels that the multiplex has a bright future as compared
to the single screen theatres.
 There are various facilities provided by the multiplexes because of which the
customers prefer to watch movies in multiplexes. The customers feels that
though the prices are high they still prefer to go to multiplexes for watching
movies as it provides a better ambience, good quality, security, etc as
compared to single screen theatres.
 Through the survey it has been found that around 75% female prefer
multiplexes for watching movies. They felt that they were not feeling safe to
watch movies in single screen theatres because of the lack of security over
there. They felt that the case of eve teasing is more in single screen theatres
when they go alone. Whereas in multiplexes they feel safe and secure for
watching movies.
 When it comes to male counterparts around 60% male prefer watching
movies in multiplexes. But when it comes to watch movies with the families
then most of the male prefer to watch movies in multiplexes.
 The respondents to our survey were mainly below the age group of 30. As
lots of youngsters are attracted towards multiplexes we found it easier to
 track them. Around 60 to 65% youngsters prefer watching movies in
multiplexes while the rest prefer to watch it in single screen theatres.

 But when it comes to people with the age group of more than 30, majority of
the people prefer watching movies in multiplexes. The main reason for this
increase in preferences towards multiplexes in this age group is because
most of the people in this age group are married and most of the people
prefer to watch movies in multiplexes when they are with their family.
 Further it has been found that people in the higher income group always
prefer to watch movies in multiplexes whereas when it comes to people in
the middle income group they sometimes compromise by watching movies
in single screen theatres.
 Normally most of the multiplexes are located at the places where you can do
other works also like shopping, etc. So most of the females use this
opportunity to the maximum.
 The main reason for the people to be attracted towards the multiplexes is the
ambience that they provide. The ambience provided by them is appreciated
by most of the people.
 Safety is the other major aspect because of which people prefer watching
movies in multiplexes rather than single screen theatres. Majority of the
people especially females feel safe in watching movies in multiplexes which
they don’t find at single screen theatres.
 The sound quality and clarity is also another reason which attracts many
people to the multiplexes. According to the respondents this also one of the
places where the single screen theaters lacks.
 People are also comfortable with the availability of tickets in the
multiplexes. Multiplexes are offering various facilities like online booking,
home delivery, etc. Whereas most of the single screen theaters does not
provide this facilities.
 Many people are satisfied with the quality of services provided in the
multiplexes.
 Many multiplexes also provide the facilities where you can get the food
items at your seats. You need not have to go out to the refreshment area.
You just have to give order to the staff that will be there inside the hall. This
facility has also helped in attracting lots of customers to the multiplexes.
This facility avoids you to wait for long time in the refreshment area in order
to get the order.
 The main complaint that we got from the respondents regarding multiplexes
is the high price of the ticket as well as the expensive food items available
there. It is because of this high price only that many people still prefer single
screen theatres. Many people though they would like to watch movies in
multiplexes but the price factor restrict them in watching the movies in
multiplexes.
 Through the respondents we also found out that because of the price factor
they prefer watching movies in multiplexes only at the starting of the month
whereas they go to single screen theaters at the end of the month for
watching movies.
 Many feels that multiplexes is the best place to hang out with friends and
also spend time with them. They felt that if you go to single screen theaters
you have only one option i.e. watching movie. But in case of multiplexes
 you can utilizes various other facilities also like game zone, shopping,
restaurants, etc.
 The footfall in multiplexes has increased because of the facilities provided
by them.

CONCLUSION

 The multiplex is having a bright future as the footfall is increasing day

by day because of the facilities provided by them.
 The multiplex has changed the mindset of the people where earlier
people came to the theatres only to watch movies. But nowadays
people expect extra recreational facilities like game zone, restaurants,
etc.
 The numbers of single screen theatres is decreasing with the
increasing number of multiplexes.
 If the single screen theatres have to compete against the multiplexes
then they will have to upgrade themselves and increase the facilities in
order to attract the customers. If they are able to include the facilities
that the customers are looking for then they will be able to attract the
customer to the theatres.
 As lots of multiplexes are located at the place where you have
shopping facilities, restaurants, etc. it is able to attract the customers.
 The main reason for many customers not visiting the multiplex
regularly till now is the price factor. Because of the high price for the
ticket and other items in the multiplex many people cannot afford to
 watch movies in the multiplex. Now the families having more income
are only able to visit multiplex.
 The female customers mostly prefer multiplex for watching movies as
they feel secure in the multiplex. This is not the same in case of single
screen theaters. So they will have to put extra effort on the safety part
of the customers.
 From the survey we can also conclude that the multiplexes are earning
more profit with the increasing number of footfall every day. But in
case of single screen theaters it is vice versa.
 The main problem in the single screen theaters is the improper seating
facilities, washroom areas, etc.
 From the survey we can conclude that the pace at which the multiplex
is growing, it is going to have a bright future and we will be able to
see lots of multiplexes in the country.
