8 Benefits of Warming Up
By Jesse Miller

To ensure that one can train properly or carryout a successful workout session, it is
important to warm up before the session and cool down after going completing one. A
warm up session should be incorporated in your daily workout session. Warm up session
increases the blood flowing towards your body muscles which in turn helps in decrease in
the stiffness in muscle that you feel. The performance quality is improved as well as the
developing risk of injury is reduced with warm up.

Let us discuss the benefits of warming up regularly as well as properly. These benefits
are discussed one by one.

1. Warming up muscles: With a regular workout routine the body temperature as well as
the muscles' temperature is increased. The advantage of this is that the muscles that are
warmed up are forcefully contracted and quickly relaxes. Warmed up muscles ensures
that you are able to perform a quality workout session. The strength along with speed is
enhanced greatly. The stretching muscles and causing injury to your muscles and tissues
is decreased to a greater extent.

2. Rise in Blood temperature: As you warm up, the blood flow travelling to the muscles
increases which results in rise in blood temperature. The oxygen held in the blood is
reduced with rise in temperature and so this oxygen is made available to your muscles on
which work is to be performed. Thus, improving performance and endurance.

3. Body temperature is increased: Warming up also increases the body temperature which
improves the elasticity of muscles and reducing risk of getting pulls and strains.

4. Efficient cooling: The heat dissipation mechanisms in our body are activated with a
warm up exercise i.e. efficiently sweating. This allows the person who is working out to
efficiently cool and avoid getting overheated in the initial stages of a race, event or
workout routine.

5. Changes in Hormones: The production of hormones that are responsible of regulating

energy productions is increased with warm up. More fatty acids and carbohydrates are
produced for energy production.

6. Preparing mentally: To prepare mentally for an exercise session, warm is the best way
to do so. It clears your mind and let it focus towards the workout session ahead of you.

7. Range of Motion is improved: Range of motion around joints is also improved by

increasing.
