which are needed for supporting and
enhancing the production capacity of an
economy.
It includes both economic infrastructure
and social infrastructure.
1. ECONOMIC INFRASTRUCTURE
 Also known as physical infrastructure.
 Refers to all such elements like power,
transport and communication which
serve as a foundation for the process
of economic growth.
 It helps in increasing the living
standards of the people.
2. SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE
 It refers to core elements of social change
like schools, colleges and hospitals which
serve as the foundation for the process of
social development of a country.
 It helps in increasing the quality of human
resources as it focuses on human
resource development, implying the
development of skilled personnel as well
as healthy and efficient human beings.
ROLE OF INFRASTRUCTURE

3. Generates linkages in production;
4. Enhances size of the market;
5. Enhances ability to work;
