• Arterial blood gases(lung • Ammonium(NH3) for hepatic
disease,& acid-base function.
disorders). • Toxicologic analysis:
• Metabolic analysis: • Drugs:(opiates, Sedative
drugs, & etc).
• Electrolytes, as Ca,Na.
• Toxins.
• Glucose.
• Alcohol.
• Ketone bodies.
• CSF analysis:
• Hyperosmolarity. • Meningitis.
• Endocrinal disturbances mainly
byT3, 4.
• Encephalitis.

• Useful in detecting causes that are
radiologically detectable as:
• Hemorrhages.
• Tumors & mass lesions causing
intracranial pressure(ICP).
• Traumatic skull injury.
• Hydrocephalus.
• Infarctions.
• Atrophy.
• Thrombosis.
• By using one of two tools :
• CT(Computed Tomography).
• MRI(Magnetic Resonant Imaging).
