The construction of the bridge began on July 28th,1923 and
ended on January 19th,1932,and opened on march 23rd,1932.There are no bolts,only rivets,six million of them weighing at 3.5 kilos.The sydney Harbour was not paid for until 1988,almost 60 years after it was opened.Being the longest and largest,they had to paint the bridge grey.Eight hundread famillies who lived along the bridge path had their homes demolished with no compensation. Until 1967 the Harbour bridge was Sydney's tallest structure.The hight of the bridge is 456 feet and the width is 161 feet.
