Grade 8- Project

DUE: BY MARCH 7th (Monday)

For this project you will create an invention. You do not actually have to produce the
invention; this is just a written report. Your project should have a cover page and a
works cited to receive full credit. Be creative! Answer the following questions about
each. The project does not have to be in an essay format but everything should be
written in complete sentences. Make sure to not plagiarize anything. If you are
caught plagiarizing you will automatically receive a F.

Cover Page/Creativity: Should be colorful, with pictures. It also should include

your name and grade. The project must be typed. You can be as creative as you want
for the entire project. (15 points)

Paper: You are to think of an invention using simple machines along with anything
else you could think of. You must include all of the following. Remember this is a
project. It should have significant detail for full credit. There should not be one-
sentence answers. (85 points)

 What is the invention?

 Draw a picture of what the invention will look like.
 Why did you choose this? How could it be beneficial?
 Who would use this invention?
 Follow the steps of the scientific method to test the invention. Make sure to
have a hypothesis. Describe in detail each step. Make sure to state all
materials necessary
 For the conclusion of the scientific method state what you think would be the
outcome if this was constructed? Would it work? Why or why not?
 What simple machines were used? Could you use other materials to increase
efficiency of this invention?
 How could this invention change your daily life?
