Production of polypropylene fibre

Polypropylene fibres are defined as olefins under the U.S.Federal Trade Commission.
Propylene is chemically a member of the olefin class of hydrocarbons and polypropylene is a
polyolefins.Polypropylene fibres are thus a type of polyolefin fibre.

By varying the conditions of polymerization ,spinning processing,it is possible for the

manufacturer to influence the physical properties of polypropylene fibres to aremarkable
degree. In consequence, there is avery wide choice of polypropylene fibres on the market, which
differ in physical characteristics over a considerable range.
In addition to this varistion in the properties of polypropylene fibres ,variations are introduced in
attemps to modify the dyeability and other characteristics of the fibre.
Polypropylene fibres are produced in the form of multifilament yarns, monofilaments, staple fibre
and tow. There is a wide range of pigmented fibres and there is a limited number of dyeable
polypropylene fibres .
