•Created by Order-in-Council in 1927.

•In 2003 administration merged with Canadian Government


Publishing (CGP) to form Publishing Depository Services (PDS)

•Acquires, catalogues and distributes federal government


publications in all formats to a network of depository libraries
as well as federal parliamentarians free of charge.

•Acts as the Government’s information safety net, collecting


government publications and making them widely available to
the Canadian public through the Depository library network.
