ABSTRACT

Equipment mounted on movable platforms and trolleys are widely used in construction,
engineering, remote monitoring and material handling industry. In this paper, we have
engineered a design for a light-weight, electrically operated, drivable platform to mount
cameras for use in remote monitoring of secure locations, spying, and operation theatres.

The movable platform is made of aluminum of size about 7.5 cm in width and 15 cm in
length. The wheels are fitted to shafts held by arms, made of aluminum. The arms are
screwed to the platform (Figure 1). The wheels of the platform are locked / held by rails
designed in such a way to prevent toppling of the platform (Figure 2). This is required for
applications that require the rails to be mounted on the ceiling of buildings. The gauge of
the sheets used for making the rails depends on the end-user.

The platform is made movable along the X- axis by tying it to a battery powered electric
motor (available in the market) fitted to a wall (Figure 3). The rotational motion of the
motor is reduced to a manageable level by a worm gear arrangement (Figure 4). A push
button switch and battery available in the market are used to switch on the motor and
control its rotation.

This has various applications in the field of engineering, medicine and monitoring
equipments. The merits and demerits will be discussed in the powerpoint presentation.

I thank Sri Sairam engineering institution and the student co ordinators for giving us this
wonderful opportunity.

Thank you
