Surrogate Mothers

What is surrogacy?

 Before telling what is surrogacy let me tell you that surrogate in simple
words is nothings
 Surrogacy is a method of reproduction where a woman agrees to become
Pregnant and delivers a child for a contracted party.
 This can be done by using the reproductive cells of the male and female or
with the cells of the surrogate.

History of surrogacy:

 The modern surrogate pregnancy got its big start in the late 1970’s.
 In 1979 lawyer keene brokers made the first surrogacy agreement
between a set of intended parents and a traditional surrogate mother.
The surrogate mother did not receive any compensation for that.
 The first paid traditional surrogacy agreement was done in 1980 where
the mother received $10,000 for the successful delivery of the baby.
 The first successful pregnancy via egg donation was in 1985.
 The first gestational surrogacy was in 1985.

Types of surrogacy:

 Surrogacy is of two types

1. Traditional surrogacy
2. Gestational surrogacy

Traditional surrogacy:

 This is a process where the surrogate mother is infact the biological

mother of the child.
 The surrogate will go through artificial insemination where the child
will be conceived with the reproductive cells of the surrogate carrier
and the intended father.

Gestational surrogacy:

 Here the surrogate mother is not the biological mother of the child.
 In this case the carrier will go through in vitro fertilization where the
Reproductive cells of the intended parents are mixed in a laboratory
to create viable-embryos.
 One or more of these embryos are implanted into the surrogate womb
in order to become pregnant.

Surrogacy in India:

 Surrogacy in India is a hot topic now, and it is still new to the people
here.
 There are many successful stories of surrogate babies born in our
Country with ofcourse their own controversial sides of it.
 It would be silly to know why people choose to go surrogate parent-
hood in India. The reason is, the cost which quotes between $12,000
to $20,000 in India.
 But the problem with our country is, the initial price is not always
What it seems. Often the intended parents are hit with extra fees as
the surrogate pregnancy progresses.

Pros and cons of surrogacy:

 This has been a great advantage especially for the homosexuals who
cannot have a kid biologically otherwise.
 While coming to our country there is a definite emotional detachment
to this whole process.
 The real problem lies in finding an egg donor.

Family values and the new society, a book by George P. smith was rated the best
among the ones based on surrogates. Movies like chori chori chupke chupke in
hindi, kanden sithai in tamil n surrogates in English speak a lot about it.With
Surrogacy becoming a legal process we can find many surrogate agencies coming
up with a drastic progress.

In this modern age where everything happens in a fraction of seconds,

humans will have no time and patience to give birth to a new life all by
themselves and in no time surrogacy will become the trend of the age.

If you are really willing to have a kid, and if you are not blessed with one of your
blood there is nothing wrong to adopt one from the millions of orphans over
there. That would be a better way to express your love and care.
