Historical retrospection off N.Ionia municipality.
New Jonia it was founded 1923.
As its day of foundation is considered Sunday of 27 June
1923, when became the foundation took place the
refugees were settled by the head of Revolutionary
Government, Nikolaos Plastiras and the priest Papaioakim
Pesmatzogloy, which had led as other Mouses, their
thousands compatriots of Spartalides (from the city
Sparta of pisidia) to Greece, afterwards the
Minor-asia Destruction.
Except the Spartalis,who were the first to settle in the
region, which then was named "Podarades" and was
depended in the Municipality Athenians, refugees came
from the Jnepoli and the Kastamoni, the Saframpoli, the
Neapoli, the Kappadokia, the Alaia and the Attalia of
Pamfylias and still from the Smyrni and her outskirts, the
Voyrla, Aivali, the Thiatira and other states of M. Asia
where was flourishing important Greek orthodoxe
communities.
The city was developed very rapidly, despite the
horrible lacks and the offest-hand installation in
small refugees settlements or even in scenes of
thousands of refugees. ' Being most residents
bourgeoes ' refugees, capable in the trade and the
enterprises elected fast their state in big industrial
centre, with main sectors: the textile and
carpets.Fast the N. Ionia became pole of attraction
of thousands of workers from the province in 1934,
with other settlements of Athens and Piraeus, the N.
ionia was named municipality.
