Coretta Scott King was born in 1927 in Alabama. She met her husband Martin Luther King Jr. in Boston where she studied music. They married in 1953 and had four children together. After Rosa Parks' arrest sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Coretta and Martin became leaders in the Civil Rights Movement. Throughout their lives together, they traveled internationally to promote civil rights and social justice. After Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination in 1968, Coretta Scott King continued advocating for equality and founded several organizations to carry on his legacy.
