TIDAL ENERGY

 Tidal energy is energy that could be obtained

from changing sea levels. In other words,
tidal energy is direct result of tide shifting
from low to high.
PROS OF TIDAL ENERGY

 Non-polluting
 Renewable source of energy
 Do not generate waste or harmful emissions
 Tides are predictable
CONS OF TIDAL ENERGY
 The dam built on river estuary affects
marine life
 Affects sanitary levels by altering the flow of
water
 Expensive source of energy
WAVE ENERGY

 Waves are generated by wind passing over

the surface of the sea. Wave power or wave
energy is the energy that could be generated
using the power of waves that are found at
the surface of ocean.
A WAVE POWER DEVICE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WAVE
AND A TIDE
 Wave is a movement in the water surface
under vertical direction and is caused by
wind. The stronger the wind is, so is the
wave.
 Tide is a natural phenomenon, a regular and
periodical oscillation of water. In theory,
tide is caused by the gravitational force of
the moon and certainly by that of the sun as
well.
PROS OF WAVE ENERGY
 Pollution free
 Renewable energy
 Efficient source of energy
 Consistent power
CONS OF WAVE ENERGY
 Marine life affected
 Reduced sea usage
 Noise
 High initial cost
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

 The word geothermal comes from the Greek

words geo -earth and therme -heat. So,
geothermal energy is heat from within the
Earth.
PROS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
 Non polluting
 Renewable energy
 Power plants are environmentally friendly
CONS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
 Only available in certain regions
 Expensive source of energy
 May cause small after-shock earthquakes
 Minor damage may take 1000 years to
recover.
