Biography
• Professor William started teaching at Mancat College
in Manchester – UK, in 2003;

• Leeds University Union satellite set-up in 2005;

• ACCA officially founded in Jan 2006;


Biography
• Children’s class in Cornholme started in
March 2007;

• Several workshops and classes held around the


UK and Europe.
WHO WE ARE ?

  We are a Cultural Association of Capoeira Angola


that, apart from being a centre of capoeiristas
angoleiros, we are fully concerned in facilitating
access to cultural activities, and inspiring an
awareness of the fight against exclusion from basic
rights of citizenship in a continuous
work that promotes social awareness, political
and cultural.
OUR MISSION
• We are dedicated to creating social capital in global
communities.

• We do this through the creation and fostering of cultural


exchanges and diversified education aimed at young
people in underprivileged regions of Belo Horizonte,
whilst also involving volunteers from different
countries.

• Respecting the historical heritage and the cultural


values.
VISION
Our vision is to create a diversified world
where youth from deprived areas and peoples
from developed regions are connected to get
equitable access to cultural knowledge

• Annual Workshops.

• Workshops in schools:
– South Leeds High School, Birmingham, Bridgewater High
School.

• Classes in low-income communities:


– Whalley Range Inclusion Zone, Cornholme, Mix & Match
Event (YdO).

• Performances :
– Charitable Events: STRUT Fashion Show, MANCAT
Fashion Show (2005-2008);
– Festivals: African Festival, Solfest, Brazilian Carnaval
(2006,2007,2008);
– Lecture at Manchester University(2009).

• Kids class in Manchester;

• BHZ Connection in Belo Horizonte,BR.


Future Plans
• Partnerships with:

• Universities:
– In UK and Brazil as well as other countries interesting in
our work.

• Community Centres :
– Applying for funding to host free classes for
underprivileged youths in their local area.
Future Plans
• Berimbau Orchestra:
– Promote capoeira and the group through musical
performances, also providing income for the group to aid
expansion.

• Community Work in Brazil:


– Providing opportunities for voluntary work.
