Debate Tips
• Always be speak up so that everyone can hear you all across the
audience
• Engage the audience; throw in some jokes and make sure they are
entertained
• When in doubt, feel free to yield to questions. The audience may
help.
• EYE CONTACT! It is very important that you look up and stare down
the audience.
• Your delivery is especially important. Don’t just stand locked behind
the podium. Move around, use hand signals, and get into the debate.
• Change your volume. You will keep the audience listening if you talk
loudly, then talk softer for a dramatic part, and then go back to loud.
