PRAYER SERVICE

“Launch out into the world with hope and love.”

(Prayer Service for S.S.C. / H.S.C. farewell)
Preparation:
 Have a picture drawn of a big ship in the water sailing (which symbolizes God)
 Each student is given a small picture of a boat/ship. As they come in for the prayer
service let them stick their picture of their boat on the back drop.
 A book mark to be kept ready for each S.S.C. student. A suitable message along with the
students name could be kept besides the backdrop.

Introduction:
Leader: Dear friends, we have gathered here to praise and thank God for the unique gift of our
S.S.C. / H.S.C students to us and all that has happened and all that we have learnt
through them, to make us better persons. As we raise our hearts in thanksgiving we also
implore God’s abundant blessings upon them as they launch out into the world with
hope and love.
Hymn: “I place my hand in your hand” (W.J.L. A-65) OR “Walking with the Lord” (P.T.L.
NO.6.)
Leader: It is not until we have faced some winters, storms, some challenges and struggles in our
lives that we are able to know our own courage and are able to understand just how
brave we can be. We need to have deep faith as we launch out into the deep in hope and
love. Our life is a journey. We are always on the move. Each time, another day greets
us with new insights and hopes. We have an opportunity to praise, to see where we
have been, to notice how far we have come and to ponder how that journey has been for
us. Each new day is also a time to clear our vision, to take stock of our resources and to
refresh our dreams as we set out once more on the journey that is ours alone. God
makes all things possible for us in his own way and in his own time.
Word of God:
Reading: Jer 1:4-10 (S.S.C./ H.S.C student)
Leader: We have heard God’s call. It is a call to each of our S.S.C. / H.S.C students to launch
out into the world with a will to stand and fight against anything that does not enhance
truth, beauty, values and goodness in this world. Now our S.S.C. / H.S.C students will
respond by singing.
Hymn: “Here I am” ( W.J.L. N-29 )

Prying For the S.S.C. / H.S.C Students

Let our response be “Lord bless our outgoing companions”
1. CHILD (Std. IX)
Lord we pray for all the students of Stds. X & XII of our school. In these final days of their
preparation help them to devote their time and energy to study their subject matter. For this
we pray to the Lord.
2. CHILD (Std. VIII)
Lord as our S.S.C. and H.S.C students launch out into the world, help them to make right
decisions in terms of their vocation so that in whatever they do they may find joy and
fulfillment. For this we pray to the Lord.
3. TEACHER
Lord help our students to have their faith deeply rooted in you. May they firmly believe that
you are the only one who can help them to achieve their goals and face the challenges of the
world. For this we pray to the Lord.
Prayer:
1. S.S.C. / H.S.C. student:
Dear God, we the students of Std. X / XII have come to the end of our school career. We thank
you for everything we have received from our teachers during these past years. Loving God, it is
time to turn again to you. It is time to realize anew that we are not totally self-reliant. This is a
moment full of grace and faith that invites us to lift up our hearts to you, the one who gives hope
to launch into the deep with faith. God of life, we ask you to give us the confidence to journey on
freely and lovingly, with courage, wonder and laughter. Help us to sail new heights with you.
This prayer we make in your most Holy Name. Amen.
2. S.S.C / H.S.C. student
On our journey through life we need the help of a guide who will help us to navigate away from
the pitfalls we are likely to face. Who can be a better guide than you Oh Most Holy One.
Let us invoke God’s assistance as we sing the hymn “Walk with me O my Lord”
