Entry cri The entry criteria to sit for the SAIS Membership and Board Examinations are as follows: Those with the following qualifications: + B.Com (Hons) or B Com (Investments); (Accounting); or (Economics) * Chartered Accountant (South Africa) [CA (SA)] * Chartered Financial Analyst [CFA] OR Those who have completed any other degree AND the one-year SAIS recognised course ‘Programme in Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management" at UNISA. [Credit will be given for an SAIS recognised equivalent one year course at an approved South African University provided the course covers all the identified subjects) OR Those who have completed any other degree AND who have written and passed or have been granted exemption from all of the following SAIFM Registered Persons examinations: © The Regulation and Ethics of the South African Financial Markets Introduction to the Financial Markets The Equity Market The Derivatives Market The Bond Market OR Those who have written and passed or have been granted exemption from all of the following SAIFM Registered Persons Examinations: The Regulation and Ethics of the South African Financial Markets * Introduction to the Financial Markets © The Equity Market + The Derivatives Market «The Bond Market + JSE Settlement Officer + JSE Compliance Officer + JSE Registered Securities Trader ( For more information on the above go to www.saifm.co.za) OR Previously registered for the SAIS Membership and Board examinations, Rules | sal SOUTH AFRICAN INSTITUTE OF STOCKBROKERS 2. Registration Registration for the study courses and registration for the examination can be done together or separately. To register for the study course please complete the attached registration and order forms and email to — sais@navigare.co.za - together with proof of qualifications and proof of payment. ‘Once you have emailed all the required documentation, contact us on 011853 8702 / 082 920 5394 to ensure that all has been received in good order. Note that should you pay and register for the examination and not meet the entry requirements by the closing date, you will not be allowed to sit for the examination and all fees paid for the examination will be forfeited. The closing date to register for the study course is Monday, 7 March 2011 and the closing date to register to sit for the examination is Monday, 6 June 2011 3. Lectures There are 15 lectures, the last one of which is revision. These will usually be held one evening per week which will either be a Monday or a Wednesday. Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to attend lectures which include the study notes. Should enough candidates indicate interest, SAIS will make arrangements to provide lectures in the evenings, which, unfortunately, will only be held in Sandton, Johannesburg No refund will be made in respect of lecture fees paid when the candidate does not attend lectures (scheduled or re-scheduled), for any reason whatsoever. 4, Study Notes If you wish to receive study notes, please indicate on the registration form. Study notes will be e- mailed periodically, usually weekly on the day of the scheduled lecture. It is advisable to register for the study notes as soon as possible to ensure that you have sufficient time available to study. 5. Lectures and Study Notes The SAIS reserves the right to change or reschedule scheduled lectures when it deems it necessary, without prior notice. 6. Syllabus The syllabus is included with the first lecture. If you are not registering for the lectures or the study notes a copy will be forwarded to you on request, once updated. 7. Current Legislation Please note that lectures and study notes are revised each semester to ensure that they contain the latest amendments to the Act, Rules, Directives and any related legislation included in the syllabus. Application for late registration must be made in writing to the chairperson of the SAIS and a late registration fee of F1000-00 will be applicable in all circumstances. (The turnover of the SAIS does not currently equal or exceed the minimum required for purposes of registration for VAT, hence no VAT is payable.)
