VOLTMETER A voltmeter is an instrument used to measure the potential difference between two points in an electrical circuit.

To use the voltmeter, should be placed in parallel, this means that, the voltmeter must be placed between the points we try to make the measurement. The voltmeters can be classified according to their principles on they base their function. The electromechanical voltmeters: Essentially are composed by a graduated scale in volts. There are models for DC and AC power. Electronic Voltmeters They add an amplifier to provide higher entry impedance and higher sensitivity Vector Voltmeters They are used with microwave signals. Addition the tension module gives an indication of its phase. Digital voltmeters They Gives a numerical indication of the tension. Usually have additional features such as memory, peak value detection, auto range and other functions. The measurement system employs techniques from analog to digital conversion to obtain the numerical value displayed on a digital screen. The first digital voltmeter was invented and produced by Andrew Kay in 1954.
