June 13, 2011 Senator Nia H. Gill Chairwoman New Jersey Senate Commerce Committee 425 Bloomfield Avenue, 2nd Floor Montclair, New Jersey 07042 Re: Support of S-2901 Dear Chairwoman Gill: As Mayor of Rochelle Park, and as someone who frequently buys tickets to New York Yankee games, I am concerned with issues that affect consumers who buy tickets to sporting events and concerts. It is my understanding that Ticketmaster is seeking to institute a paperless ticketing policy that will not allow ticket holders such as myself to transfer the tickets they have purchased. As a fan, I am opposed to this policy because I will no longer have ownership of my ticket and cannot do things such as give away my tickets to charitable organizations or to family or friends. Recently, I have become aware of S-2901, a bipartisan bill that allows consumers to make informed decisions about the tickets they buy. This legislation would require ticketing agencies to disclose event policies and make public how many tickets the company sets aside for brokers or preferred business partners. S-2901 also protects consumer choice and transferability by banning paperless ticketing policies. For these reasons, I am writing you to express my support of S-2901, and hope that you will do the same. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely,
