ENGINEERING DRAWING AND GRAPHICS Sheet no. - 4 SCALES Last date of submission is 16,Feb 2010
1. A thickness 0.5 mm of a component of an electronic instrument is to be represented by 2 mm long line on the drawing. Draw a scale showing cm, mm and 1/10th of a mm and long enough to measure 5 cm mark 25.5 mm on the scale 2. A map of 500 cm X 50 cm wide, represent an area of 6250 sq. kilometers. Construct a diagonal scale to measure kilometers, hectometers and decameters. Indicate on a scale 5.56 km. 3. An area of 144 square cm a map represents an area of 36 square km on the field. Find the RF of the scale for this map and draw a diagonal scale to show km, hectometers and decameters, and to measure upto 10 Km. Indicate on the scale a distance of 7 Km, 5 hectometer and 6 decameters. 4. The distance between Ludhiana and Chandigarh bus stands is 100 km. A bus covers this distance in 2 hours, running on an average speed. Construct a plain scale to measure time up to a single minute. The R.F. of the scale is 1/400,000. Indicate the distance covered by the bus in 45 minutes. 5. Construct a plain scale to show meters and decimeters when 4 cm distance is equal to 1 meter on the scale the scale. The scale should be long enough to measure upto 4 meters. Show on this scale a distance of 2 meters and 5 decimeters. 6. Construct a diagonal scale to read meters decimeters and centimeters for a R.F. of 1/50 and long enough to measure upto 5 metres. Show on it a length of 2.86 meters and 3.48 meters. 7. The distance between Pary s corner and Egmore is 2.5 km. on inspection of the road map, its equivalent distance measures 5 cm. draw a diagonal scale to read 50 m minimum. Show on it a distance 6350 m.
