Visit Report Seoni Substation
Visit Report Seoni Substation
We had a visit to POWERGRID Substation on 16th of November. It is a 765/400/220 kV substation situated at Seoni (near to NH 7). Here two 765 kV, Quad, Single circuit lines are coming from Sipat viz.:Sipat 1 & Sipat 2 while, two 400 kV lines go to Bhilai and Satpura & two 220 kV lines go to Chindwara & Seoni. All the major equipments are Siemens make except Autotransformers and Reactors. Autotransformers and Reactors are ABB make. Incoming Lines come from Sipat undergo through

Equipments are connected by 4 IPS Aluminum tube, while Bus bar is Quad Bersemis conductor. Circuit Breakers with Four Breaks are used, while Tie Bay CBs are provided with Pre Insertion Resistor also. Isolators are Vertical Break operated. Isolators for Line Bays and Transformer bays are provided with Single Earth Switch while those for Tie Bays are provided with Two Earth Switches. Three, 765/400 kV Autotransformers, each of 500 MVA capacity are used to step down the voltage. Transformers and Reactors have one spare each (Single Phase). The spare Transformer can be connected to the existing system by a special arrangement of Aluminum Tube Bus Bar. A spare jumper connection is always kept ready so that, the spare Transformer can be connected at any time, when needed. For spare Reactor there is a bus bar arrangement. The line reactor bay is erected at lower level than the equipment level. After transformer, 400 kV Switchyard starts.
